Treatment Technologies

ADI Systems Inc. has a unique and most extensive portfolio of world-leading industrial wastewater treatment technologies of any supplier and can apply different technologies or combinations thereof to meet your treatment goals. From anaerobic to aerobic to membrane systems, we have the right technology to tackle the toughest industrial wastewater applications.

Anaerobic Systems

Anaerobic technologies are typically utilized to treat wastewaters that are warm and contain high concentrations of BOD and/or COD. They can be used as pretreatment prior to discharge to a municipal wastewater collection system or before polishing in an aerobic process.

Waste-to-Energy systems
Anaerobic technologies are also utilized for the digestion of waste materials (i.e., energy from waste) for the generation of renewable energy in the form of biogas (methane). Typical wastes include ethanol production stillage, brewery and distillery wastes, animal manure, food wastes, and other energy-rich biodegradable wastes.

Aerobic Systems

In industrial wastewater treatment, aerobic systems are typically utilized to treat smaller flows, weaker wastewaters (i.e., low COD, BOD, etc.), when nutrient removal is required, or to meet strict discharge limits.  They may be employed as stand-alone treatment systems or as the polishing stage of an overall treatment process, where it follows some other form of treatment.

Membrane Systems

Membrane or membrane-coupled treatment technologies are often employed when higher quality effluents are required, available plant footprint is very limited, little or no regular operator attention is available, or when wastewater characteristics make conventional gravity settling technologies difficult or ineffective. Both aerobic and anaerobic membrane-coupled technologies are available and are fast becoming the preferred technologies for many industrial applications.

Reverse Osmosis Systems
When extremely high quality effluent is required, requiring removal of total dissolved solids (TDS), or to meet conductivity or specific concentrations of certain dissolved elements or compounds, reverse osmosis (RO) technology may be employed. Because RO technologies require a very high quality feed water to ensure efficient operation, they are often preceded by an aerobic membrane bioreactor (MBR) system in an overall treatment process.

Biogas Treatment and Utilization Systems

The biogas (methane) generated as a by-product of the anaerobic digestion process can be a valuable product for the replacement of conventional energy sources like natural gas and/or electricity. It must be properly handled and often requires treatment prior to use to prevent corrosion and air emissions.

ADI Systems Inc. supplies complete biogas collection, handling, treatment, and utilization systems for the recovery of renewable energy from a variety of wastes and wastewaters.
